Pub of the Year News

Congratulations to this year's award winning pubs in our branch:

Pub of the Year : Red Lion, Horley.
Cider Pub of the Year : Pear Tree, Hook Norton.

The Regional phase of CAMRA's Pub of the Year judging is currently underway. If any branch members would like to participate by visiting and scoring the three pubs which were selected as winners in the counties of Oxfordshire, Berkshire and Buckinghamshire, the voting form can be downloaded from our branch website and should be returned (to the address shown on the form) by 10th August:

Branch AGM

The branch AGM will soon be held, all branch members are welcome to attend, at the White Horse in Duns Tew, Monday 17th July from 8pm.

Beer Festivals

Check the branch website's diary page for news of beer festivals across the area.

Also mark 8th to 12th July in your calendars when the Great British Beer Festival returns once more to Olympia. Tickets are on sale now. For more info see the GBBF website.

The branch will be visiting Toddington by minibus on Saturday 18th August for the ale and steam festival taking place on the platforms of Toddington and Winchcombe stations. Leaving Banbury at 10am and returning for 7pm, with pickups/dropoffs in Hook Norton and Chipping Norton. Contact our membership secretary Paul Forrest (paul@northoxon.camra.org.uk) for details. Cost is £15 for CAMRA members, £20 for non-members.

Volunteers needed to help at Banbury Beer and Cider Festival May 2017

If you are a CAMRA member and would be intereseted in working at the 2017 Banbury Beer and Cider Festival, which will be held at the Army Reserve Centre between 4th and 6th May, the beer festival organising committee would love to hear from you!

Selecting Branch Pub of the Year

It's that time of year again where we review scores submitted by CAMRA members during the past year to figure out which pubs should be short-listed for this year's Pub of the Year.

The selection meeting will be held at the Elephant & Castle in Bloxham on Tuesday 17th January, 8pm. Branch members are welcome to attend.

Once 6 finalists are decided, our branch members have the opportunity to visit them and vote for a winner. To help people get round the area there will be a minibus trip on Saturday 4th February. Places are limited, and the cost is expected to be around £15 for branch members (the exact amount will depend where the finalists are located). Central Southern Region POTY Contest

Voting is now open for the Central Southern Region Pub Of the Year Contest.

The three finalists, one from each county in the region, are:

• (Berkshire) Queen's Head, Wokingham
• (Buckinghamshire) Cross Keys, Thame
• (Oxfordshire) Lamb & Flag, Oxford

CAMRA members from the area are invited to participate in the vote by visiting all three pubs (that bit's very important!) and filling in the voting form which can be downloaded here (Excel format).

Completed forms to be returned to the regional director by 31st July at the email address shown on the form.
